Procedure:
Cut the beef into medium chunks, put into a pot, then put
green onion, ginger, garlic, chili pepper, and Chinese
aniseeds in it. And also, put a little bit salt, soy sauce,
ketchup, sugar, cooking wine into the pot. Use high heat to
boil the beef. When it is boiling, change it to medium or
low heat. Wait for about 40 minutes, taste the beef to see
whether it is fine.
During this time, you
could cut the potatoes into medium chunks and put them into
water to filter some starch out. When the beef is almost
done, put the potatoes into the pot, and boil them together
for another 10 to 15 minutes. Then it will be ready.
Characteristics:
The beef is tender but not greasy. And you can have your
beef and starch at the same time. Use it with rice will
bring a better taste.
Note:
You can adjust the
spices according to your own taste. You can get Chinese
aniseeds in Great China Market in Trowbridge. |
